Bleicher/Golightly announces it’s debut photographic exhibit “(Vignettes)”, a collection of innovative contemporary works evoking narrative intrigue. The exhibit focuses on enigmatic figurative works that lead to internal narratives similar to those found in memory, nostalgia and dream-states.
Calethia deConto creates haunting ephemeral photographs that include mixed media elements such as sewing into the photograph. J. Wesley Brown creates compositions that place characters engaging in every day activities in an isolated serene landscape. Sarah Small creates controversial interactions between characters, juxtaposing extremes of sexuality and conservatism, youth and age, despair and joy, disease and health. Erin Wilson shoots on film, developing and printing work from her home giving her work a vintage feel, often including herself as a model. Shannon Rowland shoots conceptualized portraiture exploring identity, intrigue and self reflection. Mike Saijo uses non-traditional printing methods to create his work, printing an image directly onto the pages of a book or journal, page by page, then piecing the subject back together. Rebekah Boyle shoots fashion-influenced photography with ethereal fantasy elements.

Bleicher/Golightly announces a special performance of Airom Bleicher’s SWARMS, a musical composition in response to the collaborative work-in-progress installation in the gallery by artists Jim Holyoak, Airom Bleicher and Matt Shane. SWARMS is one of a series of musical compositions by Bleicher that are dependent upon location in three dimensional space. The piece responds to the metaphorical ‘swarming’ theme of the artists’ collaboration. Musicians move through the audience individually following improvising around specially constructed scales and following various musical rules then swarm together as a moving mass. The interval harmonies are different depending on the listener’s location.
The collaborative, constantly fluctuating, work-in-progress installation by artists Jim Holyoak, Airom Bleicher and Matt Shane occurs from the 27th of July until the 7th of August. During the course of their exhibit the artists will transform the gallery space into a mass installation from floor to ceiling. Elements within the installation will be open for interaction and collaboration with the public and special guest artists. For example, in one section of the gallery children can create handprints on the wall which will be converted to swarms of animals by the artists.
