Bleicher/Golightly presents a solo exhibit and west coast debut of Courtney Reid’s latest paintings. These heavy impasto psycho-spiritual works are a masterful blending of classical and contemporary paint forms, blending intense working and unusual saturated color pairings with soft pastel and subtle over-painting. Courtney’s works reawakens an interest in painting and delves the viewer into old world mythology in contemporary context.

Courtney Reid’s recent works were inspired by a trip to Rome during which time she was pregnant with her daughter Eva. Courtney has led a challenging and rewarding life that is often reflected in her work. Her past challenges are juxtaposed with the recent joy of motherhood in her recent works. Beautiful and powerful, these works demonstrate a mastery of paint and triumphant spirit of restitution.
